(Q) I'm receiving the error message "Microsoft Access can't start
because there is no license for it on this machine." I've tried
re-installing but it doesn't solve the problem. How can I fix this?
(A) Most of the times, this error message comes up when Access did
not register properly during the install process.
As a part of the setup, the following entries are created in the
registry.
(For Access 97): \\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Licenses\8CC49940-3146-11CF-97A1-00AA00424A9F
(For Access 95): \\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Licenses\B54DCF20-5F9C-101B-AF4E-00AA003F0F07
If the entries are not present or are corrupted, this error message
will come up.
To fix the problem, re-run the setup with a /y switch.
Setup /y
Under Windows 98, this problem can
come up due to the installation of Microsoft Publisher 97. For details, check out
